Product Information

What is the líllébaby EveryWear Carrier?

The líllébaby EveryWear carrier is an adaptable soft structured carrier designed for wearing baby from birth up through the toddler years. Soft structured carriers offer the convenience of buckles yet are vastly different from framed backpacks in that they hold the baby securely against the wearer's body and allow body to body contact The líllébaby EveryWear carrier can be worn in six different positions and had been tested to ASTM (American Society of Testing and Material) standards. The carrier is also JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association) Safety Certified.

What is Babywearing?

"Babywearing" simply means holding or carrying a baby or young child using a baby carrier. Holding babies is natural and universal; baby carriers make it easier and more comfortable, allowing parents and caregivers to hold or carry their children while attending to the daily tasks of living. Babywearing helps a new dad put a fussy newborn to sleep. It allows a new mom to use both hands to make a sandwich. For more information on Babywearing please visit: Babywearing International.

What makes a soft-structured baby carrier different than a baby sling?

A "baby sling" is a piece of cloth that supports an infant or other small child from a carrier's body. Slings typically fall into several types: (1) ring (2) tie (3) pouch or (4) wrap A soft structured baby carrier evenly distributes the baby’s weight on the parent’s body and carriers are subject to safety standards, third party testing and safety certification. Slings are not currently subject to safety standards or third party testing and therefore cannot be safety certified. Please see the CPSC’s warning about using certain types of sling carriers for babies: CPSC’s.

Why is the líllébaby EveryWear better than other carriers?

A true all-in-one baby carrier, the EveryWear adapts to your child from newborn to about five years of age and is truly the only carrier you will ever need.

  • Comfortable, ergonomic design for both the child and the wearer at each stage of the child’s growth and development from birth through the toddler years.
  • Offers six carrying functions, including a “true” hip carrier function.
  • Long lifespan – from birth to 42 lbs/19.5 kgs.
  • Adjustable seat for correct ergonomic carrying of the child at every age.
  • Maximum adjustability for the wearer, fits the petite to tall wearer.
  • Lightweight and compact design, fits in a diaper bag.
  • Includes harness, infant head support and sleeping hood.
  • Includes pocket with room for diapers, wipes and more.
  • Various fabric and style choices to suit every style.
What makes the líllébaby EveryWear carrier ergonomic?

The patent-pending seat design adjusts to support a natural sitting position as baby grows through changing developmental stages. Older children sit in the ergonomically correct “spread-squat” position, reducing compression of the spine and hips. The EveryWear also has an extra padded shoulder pad and hip belt for the wearer. This design helps distribute baby’s weight off of the back and onto the shoulders and hips which provides better support for the child and greater comfort for the wearer.

What makes the líllébaby EveryWear carrier so comfortable?

Balancing child’s weight efficiently to parents' hips and shoulders, the líllébaby EveryWear carrier alleviates physical stress on the wearer. Weight is carried on your hips and shoulders where you are strongest, not on your lower back.

Is the líllébaby EveryWear offered in different styles

Yes. The líllébaby EveryWear carrier features three models: Style, Sport and Organic. All models include a sleeping hood, infant head support and harness. The three models have the same design and structure but differ in materials and available colors. More particularly, the Style offers quilted microfiber fabric and multiple colors. The Sport is a breathable mesh for the active wearer. The Organic includes natural filled shoulder pads and organic fabrics throughout. See your authorized líllébaby retailer for a full range of líllébaby EveryWear carrier models.

What is the weight range for the líllébaby EveryWear carrier?

The líllébaby EveryWear carrier is safe for children between 7 lbs/3.2 kg and 42 lbs/19 kg. The safety harness must be securely fastened for babies less than 15 lbs/7 kg.

Does the líllébaby EveryWear carrier come with a harness and how is it adjustable to fit my child?

Yes, the líllébaby EveryWear carrier comes with a harness. To adjust the harness length to fit your child, first unbuckle the waist harness straps. Slide the strap through the desired adjustment loop on the back of the wide crotch harness. Buckle and adjust the waist straps.

Are there accessories available to go with my líllébaby EveryWear?

Yes, líllébaby has provided you with optional accessories that will work with the EveryWear carrier to provide for other forms and functions of the product.

The Infant Cradle and Harness allows you to use the EveryWear carrier in a cradle carry position with babies from 7 lbs//3.2 kg to 15 lbs/6.8 kg. Your newborn baby can sit nestled with legs to one side, and as your child becomes ready to be carried upright, you can use the infant harness without the cradle for added safety in the upright carrying position.

The EveryWear Cell Phone Pocket attaches around the waist belt or shoulder pads and allows you to carry a cell phone, PDA, or compact camera. It includes a mesh pocket for a pacifier or keys. This is the ideal way to store electronics away from the baby without having to carry an additional bag.

How to use

What positions can the líllébaby EveryWear carrier be used in and what are the weight limits associated with each position?

Front Face In (Narrow Seat) - The adjustable seat allows you to use the líllébaby EveryWear as early as 7 lbs/3.2 kg to carry your infant facing body to body. The removable neck support provides extra stability for baby’s delicate neck. The harness should always be used with babies under 15 lbs/6.8 kg.

Front Face In (Wide Seat) – Once your child is able to sit in the spread/squat position with feet wrapped around your waist (around 4-5 months) the patent-pending seat can be adjusted to the wide position to provide additional support to baby’s hip and spine. This position is most appropriate for babies from 15 lbs/6.8 kg to 25 lbs/11.3 kg.

Front Face Out - At 4-5 months most babies want to face forward. If forced to face in, they will naturally twist their neck and spine to face forward, risking injuries. Forward facing allows for bonding with the parent or caregiver while also permitting your baby to take part in the surroundings. This position is appropriate for babies who are able support their own head (about 4 months) to 25 lbs/11.3 kg.

Hip Carry - The hip carry position allows for easy on-and-off loading. The key here is since the carrier converts to a true one-strap hip carrier it provides this advantage without additional installing of parts or tricky maneuvers. It is prepared to take on even active toddlers: simply slide the strap over your head and lift your toddler up….and down…and up again…and down again. The Hip carry is appropriate for babies 15 lbs/6.8 kg to 42 lbs/19.5 kg.

Back Carry - The back carry position allows you to carry heavier weight and carry older babies for extended periods of time. This gives you more freedom in everyday life while bonding with your baby. This position is great for getting baby to sleep and super cozy for both of you. The back carry is appropriate for babies who can sit independently to 42 lbs/19.5 kg.

Cradle Hold – The cradle carry position supports baby’s back and neck through the first three months, and cuddles the baby in a supported cradle hold. The líllébaby infant cradle insert safely secures baby to the carrier and is the first to be JPMA certified. Insert is sold separately. The cradle hold is for babies who are 7 lbs/3.2 kg to 15 lbs/6.8 kg.

What carrier positions can be used for what age(s)?

Age 0-4 Months:

  • Front Face In (Narrow Seat)
  • Cradle Carry (Infant Cradle insert sold separately)

Age 4-6 Months:

  • Front Face In (Wide Seat)
  • Front Face Out
  • Hip Carry

Age 6-12 months:

  • Front Face In (Wide Seat)
  • Front Face Out
  • Hip Carry
  • Back Carry

Tips for using your líllébaby EveryWear carrier:

  • Baby should always be snug against your body.
  • Remain seated when placing baby into or unloading carrier. It is safer and easier.
  • The first few times using the carrier, limit the use to 10-15 minutes at a time. Have someone assist until you are comfortable placing a baby in the carrier. Get comfortable with one carry position before you try another.
  • Babies often change their preference and may like positions they previously did not like.
  • Baby should be positioned centered and fully down in the seat of the carrier. To adjust, pull on the sides of the carrier seat or hold on the top of the shoulder strap as you gently bounce up and down to encourage baby’s weight to slide toward the middle of the carrier seat.
  • Use a wide, firm motion when you place shoulder strap over your shoulder. This assists in placing the carrier high on baby’s back/front and prevents it from getting caught on baby’s clothing.
  • Tuck away excess shoulder strapping into the winged side pockets.
  • To nurse, sit comfortably and loosen shoulder straps to help slide baby lower into the carrier. Use the sleeping hood for privacy. Be sure to tighten all straps again before standing up.
  • Large pocket fits diapers and the lillebaby wipes case (available with líllébaby diaper bags).
Tips for adjusting the chest straps:

Adjust chest strap position by sliding it up or down on the shoulder pads. Assist the sliding by squeezing the pad a little as the strap sits tightly around the pads.

  • Adjust the chest strap before putting the carrier on.
  • BACK CARRIER: chest strap should be at armpit level.
  • FRONT FACING CARRIER: chest strap should be located across the upper part of your shoulder blades, high enough to be accessible by reaching behind your neck.
  • If reaching the chest strap behind your neck is difficult, try buckling the chest strap before putting the carrier on and “duck” into the shoulder straps by raising the chest strap over your head after your baby is securely in the carrier.
How do you fasten the líllébaby EveryWear carrier waist belt?

Always engage the waist buckle on your front so you can see what you are doing, then rotate to the position you want to use.

Wrap the padded waist belt around your waist or hip. Feed the male buckle through the elastic security band and into the female buckle. Listen for the “click” sound to make sure the buckles are securely engaged. Rotate the carrier to the desired position: to the front, hip, or back. Tug on the buckles and straps to make sure the closure fits securely. Tuck the excess straps away by running it through the elastic band on the webbing belt.

How do you convert the líllébaby EveryWear carrier seat from wide to narrow?

Unbutton the seat adjustment flaps. Release flaps from the waist belt by pulling the belt through the flaps. Fold the two flaps to the inside (lining) side of the carrier. Button the adjustment flaps together. This makes the carrier seat narrow.

How do you convert the líllébaby EveryWear carrier shoulder straps for the hip carry position?

Unbuckle the shoulder straps. Either remove one shoulder pad or slide it down the strap because only one shoulder pad is needed for the hip carry position. Leave the shoulder pad located on the strap that will run across your back. Buckle the two top shoulder straps to each other, leaving the lower part of the straps and buckles loose. Slip the excess buckles/straps into the winged side pockets. Shorten the front part of the strap as far as possible, and lengthen the back side. The buckles should be on your front to allow you to adjust straps when the child is in the carrier. Slip the excess shoulder strapping into the winged side pockets. Center the shoulder pad to comfortably fit on your shoulder by sliding it on the strap. Now your EveryWear is ready to be used as a hip carrier.

Tip: Taller individuals may want to slide the buckle through the first horizontal strap on the shoulder pad to bypass this strap and allow the pad to be positioned further to the front.

How do I use the front face in position?

Use the narrow seat setting, neck support and safety harness with smaller children (less than 15 lbs/6.8 kg). Use the wide seat setting as soon as your child is ready to sit with his/her legs wrapped around your waist (about 4-5 months). The shoulder straps should be in “backpack” position. Pre-adjust the straps and test that the carrier has the right fit. Make sure you can reach the chest strap behind your neck. Fasten the waist belt. To position your child, hold your child to your chest with their legs wrapped around your waist, or pointing down, straddling the seat. Bring the body of the carrier up over your child’s back. Slide on shoulder straps by securely supporting your child with your right hand. With your left hand, slide the left shoulder strap over your left shoulder. Support your child with both hands and switch to supporting your child with your left hand. With your right hand, slide the right shoulder strap over your right shoulder. In order to fasten and adjust the chest strap, make sure the shoulder straps are safely resting on your shoulders. Engage the chest strap buckle behind your neck. Ensure your child is centered in the carrier with his/her bottom fully resting in the bottom of the carrier. Pull on the top of the carrier while bouncing lightly to allow child to slide further into the carrier and to ensure that the carrier lies neatly over your child’s back with no folds.

How do I use the front face out position?

Use a narrow seat setting only. Never use wide seat for the front face out position. Fold head support flap forward and attach the front flap attachment strap to the front flap attachment loop located below the front pocket on the front body of the carrier. Pre-adjust straps and test that the carrier has the right fit. Make sure you can reach the chest strap behind your neck. Fasten waist belt. In order to position your child, securely support your child against your abdomen with your child’s bottom close to the waist belt. Make sure your child’s legs are straddling the seat. You can slide on the shoulder straps by taking your left hand and sliding the left shoulder strap over your left shoulder. Support your child with both hands and switch to supporting your child with your left hand. With your right hand, slide the right shoulder strap over your right shoulder. To fasten and adjust the chest strap, make sure the shoulder straps are safely resting on your shoulders. Engage the chest strap buckle behind your neck. Ensure your child is centered in the carrier with his/her bottom fully resting in the bottom of the carrier seat. Pull on the top of the carrier while bouncing lightly to allow the child to slide further onto the carrier and to ensure that the carrier lies neatly over your child’s chest with no folds.

How do I use the back carry position?

When converting to the back carry position, use the wide seat setting only. Your child should face toward you. Use the back carry position when your child is ready to sit with his/her legs wrapped around your waist and can strongly support their head (about 4 – 5 months). Pre-adjust shoulder and chest straps and test that the carrier has the right fit. Fasten the waist belt. Rotate the carrier to your back. Slide the left shoulder strap over your shoulder. To move your child to your back, support your child with your right arm and hip. Reach your left hand under the left shoulder strap webbing and inside the carrier. Tale a hold of your child’s left foot. Bend forward with your torso twisted toward your child. Gently pull your child’s foot through the carrier toward your left side. Begin to shift child’s weight to your back and slide your child across your back and into the middle of the carrier. Use your left hand to assist the carrier up over your child’s back and to support your child against your body. To adjust your child’s position, buckle chest straps before you stand upright and check that your child is safely in the carrier. Center your child in the carrier by bouncing lightly while gently pulling on one leg to adjust your child’s position. Ensure your child’s bottom is fully resting in the bottom of the carrier seat, by pulling on each of the side flaps while bouncing lightly. Ensure the carrier is neatly stretched out over your child’s back with no folds by pulling on the shoulder straps as you bounce lightly.

To watch a video on converting to this position, please visit: www.lillebaby.com.

How do I use the hip carry position?

You may use the hip carry position when your child is ready to sit and can strongly support her head. The wide seat is preferred as soon as your child is ready to sit with her legs wrapped around your waist. Convert your carrier to a hip carrier (See: How do you convert the líllébaby EveryWear carrier shoulder straps for the hip carry position?) and then fasten waist belt. Rotate the carrier to your right or left hip and slip the shoulder strap over your head and place it on the shoulder opposite the seat. Your arm should lie outside the carrier pocket. Please do not unbuckle the shoulder strap. In order to properly place your child in the carrier, slide your child into the carrier facing you. Make sure your child is centered in the seat. To adjust your child’s position, slightly lift her bottom to create slack in the shoulder strap and to enable you to adjust the shoulder strap to ensure the child sits correctly and closely. Pull on the side flaps and the back of the carrier to ensure it stretches neatly over your child’s back with no folds.

How do I attach the líllébaby EveryWear sleeping hood?

To attach the Sleeping Hood, first button the hood to the two buttons on the inside of the carrier. Next, thread the webbing straps through buckles above the front pocket. Pre-adjust the length of the straps.

How do I adjust the líllébaby EveryWear sleeping hood?

To adjust the sleeping hood, run the hood adjustment straps through the buckles located above the front pocket. Find the desirable length that comfortably supports your child’s head. Adjust by buttoning the buttons on the adjustment straps at a desired length. The hood is now hanging over the front of the carrier.

Where can I store the líllébaby EveryWear sleeping hood when not in use?

You can store the sleeping hood and straps by either tucking them into the zipped front pocket, or tuck the straps into the winged side pockets with the hood hanging over the carrier.

Troubleshooting

I’ve read the owner’s manual but I am still confused on how to use my líllébaby EveryWear carrier, is there any additional help?

Yes. There are many video demonstrations to assist you on the líllébaby website at www.lillebaby.com. Should you prefer a DVD, we will be happy to send you one. Please contact our Customer Service team at 919.747.8510 or email us at SCIService@SCIChild.com to request your copy.

Can the líllébaby EveryWear be used to carry twins at the same time?

No. It would be a safety risk to try and wear two children at a time. Ideally, the líllébaby EveryWear carrier is best used with twins by carrying one child in the carrier while pushing the second child in a stroller.

Can my baby face out when I wear him/her on the front?

Yes. The EveryWear carrier converts into a front facing out position with a narrow seat. This position should only be used if your child is able to support his or her head (about 4 months) to 25 lbs/11.3 kg.

Do I need to have someone help me get my child into the carrier?

For the front face in position, front face out position, and the hip carry position, you would not likely need someone to help you get your child in and out. It is easy to place your child in the carrier seat and strap him or her in. For the back carry position, some children are old enough to be able to climb in themselves when you are bent over or kneeling down to a position where they can get in. If it’s a younger child, you may need some assistance or you may need to practice with assistance until you master loading and unloading your child. The Owner’s Manual provides two methods for placing your child in the back carry position. We suggest you practice both and find the method that works best for you and your child.

If the carrier fits me, will it also fit my husband?

The líllébaby EveryWear carrier was designed to fit most average sized people and is easily adjustable to make it easy for multiple users to wear this carrier.

Can I nurse my child in the líllébaby EveryWear carrier?

Yes. You can comfortably nurse your child in the EveryWear carrier either in the front face in position or the cradle carry position. To nurse with baby in the font face in position, sit comfortably, loosen the straps so baby can slide deeper into the seat and nurse your baby. The sleeping hood can serve as additional cover for privacy. To nurse with baby in the cradle carry position using the infant cradle and harness, loosen the straps so baby can sit nestled with legs to one side and you can nurse comfortably.

Can my baby sleep while in the líllébaby EveryWear carrier?

Yes. The ergonomic design of the carrier allows your child to comfortably rest in the EveryWear. Your child’s legs are at a 90 degree angle, supporting the correct sitting position for the baby’s hip, pelvis, and spine growth. The sleeping hood can provide additional head support in the front face in and back carry positions while your child sleeps.
