Founder and CEO Appointed Chairman of
Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association’s Board of Directors
- Brenda Berg, founder and CEO of juvenile products company
Scandinavian Child, has accepted the Chairman position of the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association’s (JPMA) Board of Directors. A strong safety advocate, Brenda was appointed to the JPMA Board in June 2006 and serves as a voting member of two ASTM product safety standards committees.
“JPMA is fortunate to have such a dedicated individual like Brenda, working to further the goals of the organization and the industry,” said JPMA President,
Robert Waller, Jr. CAE. “It is vital for our association to work diligently every day to ensure the mission of JPMA is carried out to the fullest. Brenda
will do a tremendous job in leading the organization to an even higher level of excellence.”
“Scandinavian Child has been a proud member of JPMA since the very beginning of our business. Even during the business planning stages, JPMA was my go-to source for information on product standards and safety,” said Brenda Berg. “As Chair of this organization, founder of a juvenile company AND a parent, it’s extremely important to me to spread the word on the JPMA Certification Program and all of our efforts to improve the health and safety of children. Despite new legislation, many important safety standards are still voluntary and will be for several more years. When shopping for baby products, particularly gear and furniture, I hope all parents will look for the JPMA Certification Seal and make www.jpma.org their go-to resource for creating safe environments for their children.”
About JPMA
Founded in 1962, the JPMA is a national trade organization representing 250 companies in the United States, Canada, and Mexico who manufacture, import and/or distribute infant products such as cribs, car seats, strollers, bedding, and a wide range of accessories and decorative items. JPMA’s extensive history of leadership in juvenile product safety includes the development of a comprehensive Certification Program to help guide parents and caregivers toward purchasing juvenile products that are built with safety in mind. JPMA's Certification Seal is available to manufacturers who voluntarily submit products for testing. Only after the product passes the rigorous testing of the appropriate ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standard can it display the JPMA Certification Seal. In addition to product testing, JPMA works with government officials, consumer groups, and industry leaders to educate consumers on the safe selection and use of juvenile products. JPMA’s THE PARENTHOOD, the organization’s online community for moms, dads, grandparents and other caregivers, offers comprehensive information on creating safe environments for children.
